    CHICAGO - United Airlines said Friday it is removing the grounded Boeing 737 Max from its schedule until early September, forcing it to cancel thousands more flights.
    United, Southwest and American are bracing for a second straight summer without their Max planes, which have been grounded since last March after two crashes killed 346 people.
    The result will be fewer flights than the airlines had planned to offer during the peak summer-travel season. That could result in slightly higher fares.

    United Airlines said on Friday that it will cancel Boeing 737 Max flights until September 4. The airline previously planned to return the plane to service in early June.
    The cancelation comes as the 737 Max nears the one-year anniversary of its global grounding, following the second of two fatal crashes.
    Although the FAA chief said the Boeing plane may make its certification flight within the next few weeks, it will take time for airlines to get the planes out of storage and ready to fly again.
