    Builder confidence is firm overall, according to the latest National Association of Home Builders /Wells Fargo Housing Market Index. The August Index reading is 67, a one-point decline over the month prior. An above-50 reading indicates more builders have a positive outlook than a negative one.

    The National Association of Home Builders reported the housing market index was at 67 in August, down from 68 in July. Any number above 50 indicates that more builders view sales conditions as good than poor.
